And now for some levity... we need it.

After all the horror reports of cholera, dysentary and malaria that have been batted around - it turns out the real affliction that is running rampant among those who have remained is... constipation. Apparantly the military puts some constipating medicines into all the MRE's.

I pulled the following from a blog, Socalgrassroots.blogspot.com - it's pretty funny.

An anti-abortion group has been shooting around an email describing how Katrina was punishment raining down on America from God for legalized abortion.

Here's their rationale...
Katrina looked, in their mind, like an unborn fetus when coming ashore.

I'm in the military (Coast Guard) and I'm currently in LA helping with the relief - I've been eating MRE's since I've been here and believe me, the military has NOT put any type of constipation medication in them. Whoever is spreading that rumor needs a life!

I've often wondered what an unborn fetus would look like coming ashore - now I know!

That's funny. I've been checking in--I've enjoyed seeing your coverage of this all. It is more refreshing and honest than alot of what we see on tv. Take care to you and yours. God bless.

If Katrina is punishment for sins of the past then, I would think, all those antiabortionist people should be dead or maimed.
What a bunch of losers.

I have great sympathy for the victims, in ALL the states effected by Katrina, and have given to the cause, but what about those people, already living in Texas that had no homes, and no jobs before the hurricane hit the other states, they are forgotten and in fact in some cases denied the help in their very own state, that the Katrina guests are receiving. It is not the victims fault when a hurricane leaves them in dire straights, but it also not the victims fault when they are laid off, or poverty stricken. It's blatant prejudice to help only those of the hurricane and push the others to the side, others who have been on waiting lists for homes and job seeking for months or longer. We are all asked to give, well some cannot because they are denied jobs to make any money so they can give, let alone take care of themselves and their families. Alot of whom have been paying taxes too, and contributing to their states economy for years. All those who are in need of help deserve the help, I think NO ONE should be denied or discriminated against. Really would like to see this addressed by the state officials in charge.

that's part of the problem...they and their crazy theories and idealist views never get out of the gene pool because they keep breeding and won't use responsible forms of birth control or be productive members of society...what a bunch of arseholes. That is what's great about this country...they are free to say it and we are free to laugh at them...but this isn't about them....let them rot wherever they sit on their mighty hill...it's about people like Troy whom I've never met.

TAG - Fellow sailor who found your blog thru SA and have been reading it since before the storm. Crying at work reading all this. ...GREAT WORK...the rescue efforts...the community work...house checks..everything! We are all pulling for you and the rest of nola, and doing what we can to help.

Hang in there.

I think the hurricane looks like an icecream cone (with orange ice cream) melting on the hood of a camaro, which means that we should all go out and buy "Smoky and the Bandit" DVDs.
Seriously - I have been and continue to, pray for the good people of New Orleans' recovery and prosperity - regardless of anyone else's judgements.
