New York City - Stand Up!

Several posts tonight and they're going to be split into three. A Fair amount of pictures with each.

Progress is being made in Jefferson, albeit slowly. Those are Entergy trucks on the left working along Jefferson Hwy.

Leaving today I was going to head back Uptown, but decided to try a few different areas. The posts after this will be Old Metairie and then the Lakefront... Stick around for the Lakefront.

Well as I was leaving River Ridge, I came across a few interesting sights... The Jefferson Parish buildings in Elmwood are being powered by massive generators driven in and are beginning to gear up to function as a headquarters.

Most interestingly though is that I discovered that this entire area near the river is being patrolled by New York City Cops... an army of them. I spoke with one and he said there were approximately 300 NYPD Officers and 60-70 vehicles. The pictures speak for themselves.

NYPD Vans - Their staging ground is the Winn-Dixie on Jeff Hwy. and they sleep in the nursing home next door.

Go NY! Glad to see that we can return the favor of a good neighbor when it's needed.

We saw the buses being escorted by police/squad cars thru the Chinatown area last weekend. We were there touring some European friends around the city. I told my husband I thought the buses were headed to Louisiana. Thanks for the photos confirming that!! GO NYC!
